Property hunting can be a stressful process for many prospective buyers and renters. It usually involves going over 50+ properties online, followed by 3-10 house visits which then leads to 1-3 bids.
There are multiple factors that, as a property hunter, one has to consider before reaching their desired goal. To help facilitate a portion of the process, a House Hunting Checklist in excel is now available.
This template allows property hunters to score a list of key house indicators, helping to determine the property’s “big picture” before finalizing one’s decision.
It consists of 9 major segments: General, Exterior, Kitchen, Bathroom, Dining, Basement, Bedrooms, Laundry and Office/Extra. For each segment, there are multiple subcategories (60 total) that can be assessed. Scores range from 1 to 5, where one is ‘Awful’ and five is ‘Amazing’.
Once all of the property hunting checklist segments have been filled, the template will automatically give you a property score. Subcategories that are not applicable can be left blank, similarly to the pool exemplified above. The total property points and total available points (Out of) is automatically computed.
It is common for a property to have unique features that can be difficult to put into a score. For times like these, it is important to add commentaries that will give you the necessary information to finalize the purchase or rent.
Every commentary has enough space for 84 characters. Below are a few examples of how it can be filled out:
For those interested in printing a copy of the house hunting checklist, all that is needed is to press CTRL+P or go to File -> Print. The House Hunting Checklist fits everything on a single page.
